Hell has come to Knell...

Idris Drok of the Waya has come into power, the first Nomad Queen to sit upon the throne in either country, but already her reign is plagued by misery and strife. The day of her coronation marked the breaking point in the Gods' War and our lands have paid the price: quakes, fires, tornadoes, storms, magical beasts, and, perhaps worst of all, hordes of corrupted humans driven mad by their addiction to the Change have ripped our peace to shreds. Our deities no longer heed our prayers, their ears deaf and eyes blind to our desperate plight. Mytun's Councillors, fearing the instability of Nelya would spill over into their lands, readied for war, but now it seems our only hope for survival comes from working together... In our darkest hour there shines a single light, Old Gods who slumber beneath the earth, waiting for us to remember their names. Only they can restore the Balance, only they can save us from ourselves... But can we wake them? Should we wake them? Will you help save us?

What is this place?

Revelations is a play-by-post roleplaying game ("RPG") set in the fictional world of Knell. Our world, which is in many ways similar to the medieval times on Earth, is home to a variety of human shapeshifters and their animal familiars; characters may be joined (or adopted from our NPC Database) as Nobles or Commoners; Nelyans, Mytundans, Nomads, or Wanderers; Natives or Outsiders; Shapeshifters or Throwbacks; and Magic Users or Non-Magic Users. Once joined, they will have a variety of In Character and Out of Character opportunities to grow in knowledge, experience, power, and status. Our site offers a multitude of interactive and individual opportunities and events for characters; this means that you will not only have an abundance of ways to interact with your fellow players, but you'll also have the ability to pursue your own player and character development goals! Revelations was open by co-creators Krazy and Fennic on November 19th, 2015; after a brief introductory period where a number of "beta" players assisted us in testing out features we'd created, we officially opened to the public on December 29th, 2015. The site is currently home to 16 players and 54 active characters, as well as 207+ admin- and player-created Non-Player characters available for interaction and adoption. Site count was last updated on February 14, 2017.

If you're interested in what we have to offer, please stop by the Joining section of our menu above as it will tell you everything you need to know to get started! To learn even more about the site, we have several in-depth guides that can be accessed by visiting our Lexicon section. If at any time during your stay you are in need of assistance, or would like to provide constructive feedback, please feel free to contact our owner, Fennic. She can be reached by email at either or Our wonderful admin may also be reached if you have any questions; Newt can be contacted at and Kate can be contacted at (please make sure to include in the Subject your OOC name and/or that you're from Rev!). All admin can also be reached on our Inbox Board or the Chat Board.

What are "Ages"?

Revelations is set up to progress through versions, which we call "Ages", as players and admin work to expand both our physical in-game world and in character knowledge. These Ages will allow us to introduce new events, character types (even new races!), opportunities, and much more. We currently have Ages 4 through 7 plotted, but if you would like to see something added or changed in the future please don't hesitate to let us know! Our current age, The Age of the Missing Gods is our third and began officially on September 13th, 2016. Previous versions were The Age of Civilization (Age One) which ran from November 19th, 2015 through March 16th, 2015 and The Age of the Missing Heir (Age Two) which ran from March 16th, 2015 through September 12th, 2016.

How can I get involved?

There are loads of ways for everyone and anyone to get involved this Age! Not only will we need help completing tasks to awaken the Old Gods, but we'll also need players to help restore boards (areas damaged by the Coronation Day Disasters) and characters will be busy defeating hordes of monsters, capturing corrupted humans, and much more! You can learn more about the task lists on the Chat Board and the World link above. We'll also be adding in a new type of exploration shortly, Island Explores, which will send your character off to tropical, exotic locations!

What's going on this Age?

During the last Age, Knell - and the southern country, Nelya, in particular - was hit hard by a number of difficulties. First, King Idris of Nelya passed away unexpectedly from heartbreak; he and his wife had no children or heir, and so for a time Nelya was without a leader. To make matters even worse, the gods received news that if one of their Champions were selected as the new monarch, that god would become the dominant force in Nelya. This led to an all-out war in the Divine Realms with major repercussions throughout Knell! A particularly devious Master Warlock, Symon, took advantage of the gods' distraction to unleash her latest creation: a divine disease that granted characters the ability to change into multiple, unrestricted forms, at the steep price of a deadly addiction and even complete loss of their souls! One of the Nelyan High Noble families, the Lossars, began a feud with the Arans, culminating in the pregnancy of Duchess Joscelin Aran and assassination of Lord Henri Lossar, the child's potential father. Duke Hugh Lossar (Krazy), pressured by the Council and saddened by the loss of his brother, fled for parts unknown. The Rossiers, an up and coming Lesser Noble family originally located in the Aran lands, have been elevated to High Noble status and taken over their lands.

At the end of Age 2, Idris Drok of the Waya Tribe (Newt) completed all of the Monarch contest tasks and took the Nelyan throne. However, this joyous event was overshadowed by a series of terrible occurrences, most caused by the Divine War and the severe Imbalance in the world brought about by the Warlock's meddling. As the crown descended on Idris' head, Knell was rocked hard by earthquakes, tornadoes, fires, hordes of corrupted humans and animals, mythical beings, and more! However, at the same time and across the angry sea, an Adventurer, Captain Riviera Stormwind (Renny), set foot for the first time on a long-forgotten island. This island contained clues about an ancient deity pair who had once brought peace to Knell and may very well be able to do so again... The Adventurer brought their findings to The Scholar Matti Jobarna (NPC), who deciphered the ancient texts and discovered ways these ancient gods could be awoken. Now it's up to us to save the world!
